Friday 1st February marks the 160th anniversary of the birth of Victor Herbert, and in this evening’s Lyric Feature Guy Livingston tells the story of the life and work of this composer, conductor, cellist, and Irishman… or was he?

This is Victor Herbert, Son of Dublin.Special thanks to the Victor Herbert Foundation for their support in the making of this programme, to Michael Spudic and ASCAP, and to contributors Alyce Mott, Artistic Director of the Victor Herbert Renaissance Project Live, Marion Casey of Glucksman Ireland House at New York University, conductor David Brophy, and William Butt, Professor of Cello at the Royal Irish Academy of Music.
